A Christmas Concert with The Britten Singers at All Saints Church in Hereford
Our thanks to Bill Sewell and Cafe @ All Saints for providing the venue and rereshments free of charge. All money raised will go to local charities supported by the club. A final total of £200 was raised.

17 November 2019
Back to Tesco's Belmont store for our annual collection of foodstuffs for local charities. Shoppers were very generous this year with well over 1000 items donated.

Our meeting this week was at Burghill Golf Club for a putting competition organised by Ernie. On a practice green with and interesting slope and a stiff breeze the competition was keen.
The competition was won by Chris Starnes with Geoff Perry taking the booby prize.
We finished the evening with a fish & chip supper

Our meeting this week was at the Herefordshire Golf Club, accompanied by partners. We had a generous buffet meal followed by a quiz devised by Brian Read.
At the end of the meeting the John Sweatman Attendance trophy was presented to Geoff Perry with an attendance of 43 meetings out of a possible 48.

A new Rotary Year started with our handover meeting. David Newton was welcomed as President.
Anne and Alan Hudson will be moving on to their new home in Shropshire on 4th July but will remain as club members. Immediate Past President John Barnes will now take on the role of club Secretary.
We are looking for a volunteer for the role of Senior Vice President.

We held our summer barbecue in Dick and Margaret's garden. We were joined by members of the Rotary Club of Knighton & District.
Steak & sausages were expertly charred by Alan despite his wounded hand. The bar was manned by Ernie and Dick, salads provided by various members or wives and not forgetting strawberries from Geoff Perry.

We went back to The Green Dragon to see how the refurbishment work is progressing. We were welcomed by Managing Director Julian Vaughan who showed us the work that has been done so far in the dining room, ball room and what is to become Offa's Bar. Julian explained that they were doing the work while keeping the hotel open as far as possible. We then had a tour of some of the refurbished bedrooms.
After the visit we moved on to De Koffie Pot at Left Bank for supper.

At our AGM on Monday 29th April Rotarian Alan Hudson was awarded a multiple Paul Harries Award with two sapphires in recognition of his work on Rotary membership.
Alan is the District 1100 Membership Team leader and has been instrumental in setting up our satellite club Rotary Helping Herefordhsire.
15 April 2019
At our meeting on Monday 15th April we welcomed nine new members to our club. They have formed a satellite club under the title of Rotary Helping Herefordshire.
Each new member was given a welcome letter from the President and introduced to the current club members present. We look forward to working with them on future events.
13 and 14 April 2019
We hosted a visit by Thomas and Nadia Schmehl and Hans-Jorg Lehr and his family from the Rotary Club of Dillenburg. They are visiting England and Wales in their motorhome and caravan respectively.
A had a BBQ on Saturday afternoon, sheltering from the wind, hosted by Anne & Alan Hudson. Then on Sunday some of our club members and their wives joined them for lunch at the Nag's head in Canon Pyon.

The club were given a talk by Ian Bailey of Hereford Hospital Radio - http://www.hhr.org.uk/new/
Ian told of the history of hospital broadcasting in Hereford and how teh radio station just managed to survive the move to the new hospital site and the refurbishment of their building putting them off air for three years.
The radio station is supported entirely by charity and the club presented Ian with a donation of £100.

On Valentines Day club member David and Elizabeth Evans hosted a film night at their house to raise funds for Marie Curie. The film shown was "Swimming with Men" which was enjoyed by all (certainly by most!)
Elizabeth provided an excellent supper with a variety of desserts brought by guests.
The donations for the evening totalled £690.
