Christmas Party - 14 December 2015
We held our Christmas party at the Burghill Valley Golf Club. This was well attended with 42 members partners and guests. After a traditional Christmas meal we were entertained by David Evans. He had proposed a photo competition where members sent him pictures of themselves at a very young age. Unfortunately several were lost in his junk mail! Those that did manage to arrive were mostly unrecognisable.
President Dick Makin then made the award of a Paul Harris Fellow to Alan Hudson, District Governor Elect.
We would like to thank Burghill Golf Club for an excellent meal and Dick and Margaret for the small gift to each couple.

Geoff Perry's 90th party at Ascari's Cafe - 7 December 2015
We gathered at Ascari's to celebrate Geoff's 90th birthday. After an enjoyable meal Dick Brimacombe paid tribute to Geoff's work in Rotary.
Geoff then regaled with his life story including his service on HMS Diadem, an anti-aircraft cruiser on the Arctic convoys. He also showed us the Nazi ensign he 'liberated' from a surrendered German minesweeper in Copenhagen harbour.
Geoff was then presented with a Paul Harris Fellow award by President Dick Makin for his tireless fund raising work, not least his pre-emtive purchase of a television for the day treatment centre at Hereford hospital.

Clay Pigeon Shoot at Lower Brooke Farm - 6 September 2015
Members and friends enjoyed a beautiful Sunday morning at Lower Brook Kingsland. There was clay pigeon shooting for the experienced and novice. Star shooters were Rob Thomas and John Phipps.
After coffee and cake there was a tractor and trailer ride around the farm to see the Lower Brook herd of Dexter cattle including meeting Oscar the new born calf and his mum Crimson.
We then adjourned to the Mortimers Cross Inn for an excellent Sunday lunch. A good time was had by all who attended.

Rotary Cycle Ride for Prostate Cancer - 21st June 2015
Rotary Cycle Ride for Prostate cancer – A MARATHON FOR PROSTATE CANCER - held at Upper House Farm. On the basis that there are 26 members of the club and we aimed to do 26 miles on the exercise bike. The event was combined with a BBQ the proceeds of which will be the club’s contribution to Polio Plus this year.
It is estimated that we will have raised over £400 for Prostate Cancer Charities (and the barbecue raised approx £150 towards our target for End Polio Now).
