Rotary Club of Hereford Wye Valley - President's Welcome
I wish you a very warm welcome to the website of Hereford Wye Valley Rotary Club.
Thank you for taking the trouble to find us. Our Club was chartered in 1981 and several of our founder members still take an active part. We have 20 members with ages ranging from early thirties to ninety. We have no restriction on gender. We would be very pleased to welcome new members of whatever sex or age.
We try to provide a balanced mix of good works and good social interaction. We are organised into three committees.

HOME
Community, Vocational and Youth deals with requests from local organisations for help (during the last year this has ranged from physical help in building a communal garden, to providing cash donations to several organisations, to providing days out for disadvantaged children, to collecting donations of food items at a local superstore for distribution at Christmas to deserving causes, to sending older children on leadership courses, to sponsoring youth public speaking competitions).
OVERSEAS
International and Foundation deals with help to third world countries and works towards greater international understanding (last year we raised a considerable amount towards the Rotary Polio Eradication campaign, in which Rotary International is supported by the Gates Foundation). We also supported individual projects both in Africa and India - a hospital and a school respectively - in May 2014 we hosted a group of Rotarians from our sister club in Dillenburg, Germany following our visit there in May 2012 and we visited again in 2016. We have supported the Rotary Group Study Exchange programme, where young professional people are given the chance to spend a month abroad, studying the lifestyle and culture of other countries.
CLUB
Service and Membership picks up all other areas of Rotary membership. It is responsible for ensuring we have an interesting programme of speakers and events, for ensuring we have a reasonable balance which is enjoyable to everyone, that new members are welcomed and looked after, that our arrangements for meals etc are to everyone's taste - and they do their best to keep me in line as President!
The club meets alternate Monday evenings at 7.00pm for 7.30pm, please check our calendar for details. Contact the secretary John Barnes (07891 026827) or via the Contact icon below for more information.
Please make contact - we'd love to hear from you, whether you have a project that you'd like support for or whether you are interested in joining us.
If you would like to find out what is involved in being a Rotarian and how you might become a member, then please contact us via the 'Join Us' page. Rotarians visiting our area from anywhere in the world are always welcome at our meetings.
Thank you for visiting our site.
